ECSD Seeking Info In Robberies
Two armed robberies in Elkhart County Friday seem to be connected and police there are asking for any information on the suspects that may help solve the crimes.
According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were called at approximately 2:15 p.m. to a robbery in progress at the Elkhart Cigarette Outlet, 51505 SR 19. Prior to officers’ arrival, two white males entered into the store and demanded money from the cashier. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, several cartons of cigarettes and other items from the store, the suspects placed the items into a black trash bag and ordered the cashier to the floor.
After threatening the cashier and telling her not to call the police, suspects fled from the store and left in a vehicle headed in an unknown direction on SR 19. Though not seen, suspects may have been armed with a taser.
The suspects are described as white males with a height of 5′ 10″ and weighing between 160 and 170 pounds. They were both wearing black hoodies, light colored pants and had blue or black bandanas covering their faces.
The second robbery happened at approximately 6:50 p.m. at Low Bob’s Discount Tobacco, 51523 SR 19. In that incident, two white males entered the store while brandishing a hatchet type of a weapon.
After ordering employees to the ground, the suspects obtained an unknown amount of cash, several cartons of cigarettes, and other items before leaving the store in an unknown vehicle. A third suspect, who was a female, was standing at the door during the robbery.
The suspects in that robbery are described as two white males and one white female, all in their 20’s. One white male was wearing a camo style hoodie, jeans, and is 5’10” and weighs between 160 and 170 pounds.
The second white male was wearing a red jacket with “Indiana” in white letters across the front. He had jeans on and is also 5’10” tall and weighs between 160 and 170 pounds.
The third suspect is described as a white female with a heavy set build. She was wearing a dark colored jacket with a fur lined hood and her face was covered with a cream colored scarf.
Sheriff’s Deputies are continuing to investigate these robberies and are asking for the public’s help in identifying those responsible. Anyone with information should contact the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department at 574-533-4151.
