NAPPANEE – The combination of great defense and strong outside shooting from Ben Linky staked the Warsaw freshman boys basketball team to a big halftime lead en route to a 36-18 win Thursday night at NorthWood.
Linky, who led the Tigers with eight points, hit a pair of treys in the opening half as Warsaw built a 15-point lead at intermission.
Paul Marandet and Riley Rhoades each scored six points for the Tigers, who improved to 14-3 on the season. Luke Wilson, Tyler Packard and Xavier Lynch each had four points and Lucas Cone and Lamain Rucker each added two points.
Caleb Garber and Evan Schmidt each nabbed a pair of steals for the Tiger defense and Bailey Ness had one. Matt Anthony grabbed three rebounds for the winners and Tyler Johnson had one carom.
Warsaw plays at Elkhart Memorial Monday at 6:30 p.m.
