Warsaw’s Grose Honored
WARSAW – Standout Nikki Grose has been honored for her play for the undefeated WCHS girls basketball team last week.
Grose, a 6-0 junior for the Tigers, was one of six players statewide selected as an IBCA/Subway Player of the Week.
Grose helped lead the Class 4-A No. 8 Tigers to wins over Penn and Concord during the week of Jan. 14-19. With the two wins, coach Michelle Harter’s squad improved to 17-0 overall and 5-0 in Northern Lakes Conference play.
Grose was tabbed as the District I representative for female players after averaging 16.5 points and 10 rebounds in the two victories. She had 13 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the 55-42 win at Penn Jan. 16 and then posted game-high totals of 20 points and 12 rebounds in a 52-21 NLC win at Concord Jan. 19.
Also honored as Players of the Week on the girls’ side were Frankton senior Kelsey Key for District 2 and Paoli senior Sophie Sears for District 3. Selected as Players of the Week for the boys were senior Trent VanHorn of Fort Wayne Canterbury, senior Blake Simmons of Castle and senior Mike Crawford of Tipton.
