Anderson Paces Triton To Tourney Win
BOURBON – Shana Anderson led the way as the Triton girls basketball team opened play Tuesday night in the TCU Bi-County Tournament by defeating Argos.
Senior Anderson netted a game-high 20 points as the Class 1-A No. 10 Trojans defeated the Dragons 54-47 in first-round action of the eight-team tournament.
Anderson also had 10 rebounds as Triton topped Argos for the second time this season. Triton posted a 54-47 win at Argos back on Nov. 13.
Taylor Hatfield had 15 points and dished out six assists for coach Adam Heckaman’s team Tuesday night in the win. Kylie Mason added eight points for the Trojans, who hit 17-of-20 free throws in the victory.
Karlee VanderWeele scored 16 points and Jami Patterson 14 for Argos, which falls to 8-8.
In other Bi-County first-round games Tuesday night, LaVille beat New Prairie 58-49, Culver topped Bremen 50-25 and Oregon-Davis stopped Glenn 66-39.
Triton, now 12-4, will play LaVille (9-7) in a semifinal game Thursday night at LaVille at approximately 8 p.m. The first semifinal Thursday at LaVille at 6:30 p.m. pits Class 1-A No. 2 Oregon-Davis (14-3) versus Culver (10-5).
The girls championship game is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. tip-off Saturday night at LaVille High School.
