Roger Franklin Sellers
Roger Franklin Sellers, 62, of Silver Lake, Ind., passed away at 7:27 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
Roger was born June 20, 1950, in Warsaw, Ind., to Leslie B. ‘Frank’ and Sondra (Bridegroom) Sellers. He was a 1968 graduate of Warsaw Community High School. He and Victoria ‘Vicki’ Finkenbiner were married Sept. 20, 1969, in Warsaw.
A lifetime Silver Lake resident, Roger was employed by Kerlin Motors for 20 years as a body repairman and painter. He later worked for the US Postal System for 20 years as a mail carrier for the Silver Lake area. In 2012 he retired.
Roger belonged to the North American Hunt Club and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He was an avid outdoor sportsman – especially hunting and fishing. He and Vicki enjoyed traveling and fishing vacations; Roger was Vicki’s hunting and fishing buddy. This proud and actively involved grandpa was always at Isaac’s and Dakotah’s sporting events and was Dakotah’s best friend. He was a loving and supportive father. Roger was Chad’s hunting partner, best friend and mentor. His sister, Marilyn, remembers him as a loyal and protective brother.
He is survived by his wife: Vicki Sellers; a daughter: Michelle ‘Shelly’ DeLaCruz and boyfriend, Kurt Kaufman, Warsaw; a son: Chad (Rita) Sellers, Rochester, Ind.; two grandsons: Isaac Sellers, Rochester, Ind.; Dakotah Shepherd, Warsaw; granddaughter: Brooklynn Sellers, Rochester; three brothers: Robert ‘Bob’ (Peg) Sellers, Fort Wayne; Ronald ‘Ron’ Sellers, Silver Lake; Rex (Kim) Sellers, North Manchester, Ind.; and a sister: Marilyn Luecke, Silver Lake.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, in the funeral home. Pastor Jack Smith of Hamilton United Methodist Church, Hamilton, Ind., will officiate. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.
