Dale E. Shively
Dale E. Shively, 78, of Nappanee, Ind., passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at his residence.
He was born July 3, 1934, in Tippecanoe, Ind., to Russell and Geneva (Baer) Shively. He attended Nappanee Schools, and graduated from Etna Green High School in 1952. He married Doris Helser on Nov. 26, 1955, in Warsaw. She survives.
Dale owned Shively Insurance and worked as an agent in Nappanee and Goshen, Ind. He drove school bus for Wa-Nee Community Schools for many years, and also had worked for Nappanee EMS for many years. He was a member of Nappanee Church of the Brethren, and a member of the Third of July Club in Goshen. He enjoyed ice fishing, and following his grandkids sporting events.
He is survived by daughters: Lisa (Paul) Burris, Wabash, Ind.; Jenni (Mark) Heeter, Nappanee; Annette (Randy) Spitaels, Nappanee; son: Steve (Deb) Shively, Wakarusa, Ind.; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; and three sisters: Sally (Ernest) Heighway, Richmand, Ind.; Eleanor (Glen) Deaton, Hope, Ind.; Nancy (Larry) McPherron, Plymouth, Ind.; as well as close family friends; Alex and Lisa Orn and their two children.
He was preceded in death by his brother: Joe Shively.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, as well as from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Nappanee Church of the Brethren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at the church. Pastor Byrl Shaver will officiate. Burial will follow at Stony Point Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Nappanee Church of the Brethren.
