Two Arrested For Daytime Burglaries
Two men suspected in at least three recent daytime burglaries were arrested by Kosciusko County authorities who responded to another burglary in progress.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s deputies and detectives and officers of the North Webster Police Department on Friday arrested Corey Hurst Ritchie, 24, of Warsaw. Police were called at about 1:15 p.m. to a residence in the 8000 block of Syracuse/Webster Road where Ritchie was being detained by relatives of the homeowners. Ritchie had initial fled the scene of the crime.
Officers also located in Ritchie’s possession, items that were stolen from the home. He was transported to the Kosciusko County Jail where he was arrested on a preliminary charge of felony burglary to a residence or dwelling.
Information was then obtained by officers on Saturday that led to the residence of Zackery Hernandez, 23, Arthur Street, Warsaw. Hernandez was implicated in at least one other residential burglary and was arrested and preliminarily charged with felony burglary of a residence or dwelling and charge of felony theft.
Sheriff’s detectives stated Ritchie and Hernandez have been correlated to at least three different residential burglaries in the last two months. (See related story)
Ritchie’s bond was set at $50,000 while Hernandez’s bond was set at $10,000.
Detectives said the investigation was also assisted by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office and is currently on-going.
