Memorial Spreads Out Wawasee
SYRACUSE — Four Elkhart Memorial players reached double figures in scoring as the Lady Chargers beat Wawasee, 55-37, Saturday afternoon.
Leading Memorial (11-4, 3-1 NLC) was the 12 points from Khadijah Moore. Monica Jones tossed in 11 points and Victoria Kyle and Paige Newline both chipped in 10 points for the victors.
Memorial, which has won the last four games in the series against Wawasee, took just a 22-17 lead into the lockerroom. A 16-8 edge coming out of halftime pushed Memorial over the edge and hit eight field goals in the final frame to put the game out of reach.
Wawasee (6-8, 0-4 NLC), were led by the 16 points from KiLee Knafel. The Lady Chargers, however, held the sharpshooting guard to just five points in the second half. Kylee Rostochak added 11 points to the home team’s cause.
The Memorial JV raced past Wawasee 39-13 in the afternoon matinee.
Memorial will return to the court on Jan. 16 with a home date against Gary West while Wawasee will host Whitko Tuesday night.
