Car Fire In Syracuse Ruled ‘Accidental’
While a 1998 Pontiac Grand Am was a total loss after it caught fire, no one was injured in the blaze.
The fire was reported at 12:56 p.m. Tuesday, south of Wawasee Middle School on SR 13, and had traffic in both north and south lanes at a standstill for a few minutes.
Jeremy Gawthrop, South Whitley, was reportedly driving on SR 13 when his
vehicle caught fire. He was able to get the vehicle off the southbound travel portion of the highway and exit the vehicle.
Turkey Creek Fire Territory Fire Chief Mickey Scott stated the fire has been
ruled accidental. Firefighters used water and class B foam to extinguish the
flames.
The vehicle is valued at $1,800.
