Overnight Fire Believed To Be Suspicious
The Pierceton Fire Department battled high winds at a structure fire on Sellers Lake early this morning.
Fire officials were called at approximately 2:40 a.m. to 5668 Lakeshore Dr. Upon arrival firefighters found a single story wood frame structure fully involved.
Due to winds which were gusting to 50 mph at times, it took firefighters nearly an hour to bring the fire under control. The structure suffered approximately $50,000 in damages. A second structure in close proximity also received minor heat damage.
The property is owned the by Robert Prater of Claypool and is a rental unit but was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
The fire appears to be suspicious in nature and is currently under investigation by Squad 70, the county’s fire investigation unit. There were no injuries.
