UPDATE: Winter Weather Advisory Issued
The National Weather Service has growing confidence in a winter storm system that is moving toward the Midwest and has now issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Kosciusko and Marshall counties among others.
The advisory goes into effect from 7 p.m. this evening to 7 p.m. Friday. The advisory means the possibility for strong winds and heavy blowing snow will result in travel hazards.
The NWS is calling for very strong west to northwest winds of 25 mph to 35 mph and gusts to 50 mph. Rain on Thursday will quickly change to snow in the evening hours and continue to fall through Friday and accumulate 2 inches to 4 inches. Blowing and drifting will be a problem due to high winds.
Travel may become difficult Thursday night and into Friday morning, so be prepared to allow yourself extra travel time. Minor wind damages may also result from the winds.
