Warsaw Girls Edge Memorial In Pool
ELKHART – Led by the duo of Ashley Van Wormer and Cynthia Juarez, the Warsaw girls swim team edged past Elkhart Memorial 94-92 Saturday.
Van Wormer won a pair of individual events and also swam on a winning relay team for the Tigers in the Northern Lakes Conference victory. Juarez also won a pair of races for WCHS.
Van Wormer topped the field in the 200 IM with a time of 2:30.93 and also won the 100 breaststroke race in 1:13.73. She teamed with Malorie Rheinhardt, Jessica Sweatland and Margot Rheinhardt to win the 200 medley relay event with a time of 2:03.06.
Juarez collected individual wins in both the 200 freestyle (2:08.95) and 100 butterfly (1:09.61) races.
Margot Rheinhardt won the 50 freestyle in 26.72 and Malorie Rheinhardt placed first in the 100 backstroke in 1:08.83. The team of Sweatland, Margot Rheinhardt, Malorie Rheinhardt and Erin Sandberg won the 200 freestyle relay race in 1:53.32.
Warsaw improves to 5-2 overall and 3-2 in the NLC. The Tigers swim at Wawasee Tuesday in another NLC meet.
