UPDATE: Power Lines Downed In Crash
The 800 block of North Lake Street in Warsaw was closed Saturday night for about two hours after a truck slammed into a utility pole.
Shortly after 10 p.m. the truck crashed into a utility pole resulting in a snapped pole, downed power lines and downed phone lines.
According to a Warsaw Police report, the driver of the vehicle fled from the wreckage leaving a passenger trapped inside. Warsaw Fire crews had to extricate the victim, who has been identified as Tony Sexton of Warsaw. Sexton became pinned in the wreckage and sustained a head laceration. Sexton was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment, then transferred to a Fort Wayne hospital.
Police Officer Jonathon Rice located the driver of the truck in a nearby alley. The driver, Franklin Seeley, 39, of Claypool, refused chemical testing. Police say it appears alcohol was a factor.
The area that was closed to traffic was Lake Street at West Street. Warsaw Street Department also responded to the scene and NIPSCO crews were called to repair the power lines.
