Kroger Among Bidders For Hostess
Bloomberg is reporting today that Kroger Co. has joined in the bidding process to acquire the assets of now bankrupt Hostess Brands Inc.
The Bloomberg report says about two dozen companies are currently bidding for the assets. Among those bidders are Walmart.
Experts, according to the report, say the liquidation sale could fetch as much as $1 billion.
Hostess shut down 33 bakeries and 565 distribution centers last month when it filed for bankruptcy. The company was known for producing iconic brands of sweets like Twinkies, Ding Dongs and Wonder Bread.
