Andrews Fuels Valley Victory
PERU – Tanner Andrews sparked a second-half surge Tuesday night to lead the Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball team to a win at Peru.
Andrews tallied all 18 of his game-high points in the final half as the Vikings prevailed 49-40.
The Vikings trailed 20-16 at halftime before outscoring the hosts 15-8 in the third quarter to take the lead.
Valley, which improved to 5-1 with its fifth straight win, hit 12-of-13 free throws in the victory. Peru was just 4-of-6 from the line in falling to 1-3 on the season.
Nick Kindig canned 11 points and Logan Britton netted nine for Valley.
The victory was the 698th for Valley coach Bill Patrick, now in his 44th season overall and 15th at TVHS. The Vikings host Whitko in their Three Rivers Conference opener Friday night and then play Fairfield Dec. 21 in the first round of the two-day Valley Holiday Tournament.
Logan Primerano scored nine points to pace Peru.
Valley made it a clean sweep with a 36-27 win in the junior varsity contest Tuesday night.
