Elkhart Approves Tax Abatement, Job Growth

Efforts to add nearly 400 jobs in Elkhart County are moving forward. The county council has given final approval to a tax abatement request from Fortress Technologies LLC, which is planning to hire more than 260 workers over the next seven years in Middlebury.

According to Inside INdiana Business reports, the council also issued preliminary abatement approvals to three other companies during a weekend meeting, Indiana Galvanizing LLC, Smart Cabinet LLC and Alliance Aluminum Products.

Indiana Galvanizing hopes to create around 60 jobs in Middlebury. It will be the company’s third facility. Smart Cabinet has plans to hire 55 workers in New Paris and Alliance Aluminum Products wants to add 10 positions after outgrowing its facility in Bristol.

The council is expected to consider final abatement approvals for those companies next month.
