Wawasee Runs Winless At Merrillville
MERRILLVILLE — Wawasee’s run of successful wrestling Super Duals came to a screeching halt Saturday at the Merrillville Super Duals.
After winning seven of 10 team matches in the first two Super Duals at the Wawasee November and LaPorte supers in the past two weekends, the Warriors were rendered winless in five attempts at Merrillville.
Losses to Penn 64-3, Kankakee Valley 48-18 and Merrillville 59-12 in pool competition sent Wawasee to the losers bracket where they lost to Lafayette Harrison 53-11 and Hammond Morton 36-34.
Individual wrestler results were not issued with Sunday’s press release.
The Warriors (7-10) will return to the mats Tuesday when Concord comes to Syracuse for a Northern Lakes Conference redo from the original Nov. 20 date. Wawasee will have just two days to regroup with Warsaw arriving for an NLC tilt this Thursday and the Wawasee December Duals on Dec. 15 will conclude a 24-match run for Wawasee ahead of a three-week break before returning Jan. 3 at NorthWood.
