Warsaw’s Certified Technology Park Is Official
The Warsaw Redevelopment Commission gave its stamp of approval on an agreement with the Indiana Economic Development Corporation to move forward with Warsaw’s Certified Technology Park. The WRC met Monday afternoon, and Warsaw Common Council followed suit just hours later by also agreeing to move forward with the project.
In exchange for the city’s $1 million contribution to develop the park, the city in return will receive a cap of $5 million from tax monies collected in what has been designated as the Northern Tax Increment Financing district.
The Certified Technology Park will initially be located in the city limits of Warsaw and will be under the direct administration of Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer. The board of directors for the CTP includes Charles Smith, president; Rick Snodgrass, vice president; and Tim Meyer, George Clemens and Jeff Johnson.
The CTP will be located along U.S. 30 west of Warsaw and includes the Robinson Business Park, the new campus of Ivy Tech and the recently annexed 100 acres at the northwest side of Silveus Lane and U.S. 30.
The park is being looked at as the possible site of a new orthopedic research and education center. OrthoWorx estimates the investment of over $100 million in such a center.
Winona PVD Coatings LLC had also committed to a $9 million expansion project that will add 70 jobs by next year.
And the city of Warsaw has committed to contracting a builder to create a shell structure to be used as incentive to attract more business.
