Lowell H. Kimpel
Lowell H. Kimpel, 97, of Angola, Ind., died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, in Life Care Center of LaGrange, Ind. He had lived in Angola for 25 years, coming from Pleasant Lake, Ind.
Mr. Kimpel served in the Civilian Conservation Corp Camp in Idaho in the 1930’s.
He had worked at Newnam Foundry in Kendallville, Ind., for 18 years, and retired from Weatherhead in Angola.
Lowell greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was born Aug. 10, 1915, in Defiance County, Ohio, to Oscar and Vera Myrtle (Frey) Kimpel. On Oct. 23, 1937, in Garrett he married Kathleen J. “Kathy” Robbins. She preceded him in death on Dec. 26, 2002.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law: Diane and Carl Root, Kendallville, Ind.; Deborah and James Kaough, Wolcottville, Ind.; and Carolyn and Ricky Moore, Kendallville, Ind.; four sons and three daughters-in-law: James Kimpel, LaGrange; John and Wendy Kimpel, Warsaw, Ind.; David and Diane Kimpel, LaGrange, Ind.; and Larry and Rosita Kimpel, Orlando, Fla.; a daughter-in-law: Mary Kimpel, LaGrange, Ind.; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter: Mary Ann Kimpel; a son: Robert Kimpel; a brother: LaVon Kimpel; and a daughter-in-law: Judy Kimpel.
Calling is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 S. State St., Kendallville, Ind. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, in the funeral home with Pastor Mervin Miller officiating. Burial will be in the South Milford Cemetery.
