Tree Lighting Benefit For Bautista Family
A Halloween morning fire destroyed a Warsaw home and all of the belongings of a family of seven and the community is coming together Saturday to help them.
Starting at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 1, The Village at Winona is going to be hosting a Community Tree Lighting event to benefit the family. The lighting is happening in the new parking lot next to Eagle Creek, 802 Park Ave., Winona Lake.
The entire family of Rafael and Luisa Bautista will be present for the lighting and a donation box will be available for anyone wanting to help them for the holiday season.
In addition to the tree lighting, which will happen at about 6:15 p.m., there will be live Christmas music, free hot chocolate, apple cider and Christmas cookies.
The Bautista family’s home was destroyed in what was ruled a cooking accident on the morning of Halloween. Mother Luisa and youngest son, Marco, were in the home when the fire started. Marco suffered burns and smoke inhalation but is recovering.
