Phyllis Marie (Heckaman) Swick
Phyllis Marie (Heckaman) Swick, 77, of Pierceton, Ind., passed away at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, in Grace Village Health Care, Winona Lake, Ind.
She was born April 9, 1935, in Kosciusko County, Ind., to Forrest and Anna Marie (Heyde) Heckaman.
She was a graduate of Burket High School in 1953. On June 2, 1953, in Silver Lake, Ind., she was united in marriage to Lowell Swick. She had 25 years of service with the United States Postal Service and retired in 1995 as the Pierceton Postmaster. She was a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Pierceton, the National Association of Postmasters of the United States and the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include her husband: Lowell Swick, Pierceton; sons: Terry L. (Patty) Swick, Angola, Ind.; and Thomas J. (Sue) Swick, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; daughters: Debra D. (Mike) Archer, Vevay, Ind.; and Donna D. (Tom) Balazs, Winona Lake; siblings: Seward Heckaman, Rosemary Williamson, Maxine Taylor, Doyle Heckaman, Karen Bucher and Diane Bedi; and 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours are scheduled for 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, and from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. The service will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Pastor Brenda Fritz will officiate the services. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
