Lorin L. Danner
Lorin “Lum” L. Danner, 89, of Pierceton, Ind., passed away at 12:46 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Select Specialty Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born on Sept. 17, 1923, in Wabash County, Ind., to Lewis Edward and Goldie (McKee) Danner. He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County.
He married Betty Symons on Oct. 13, 1946, in Warsaw. He honorably served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
Lorin was the owner, operator and mechanic of Danner’s Garage in Pierceton for 59 years. Lorin drove the Engine “The General” from coast to coast in the National Legion Parades for 20 years, also driving to the dedications of the World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War Memorials. The purpose of “The General” was to promote patriotism across our great county.
Lorin is survived by his wife: Betty Danner, Pierceton; one son: Gale (Juanita) Danner, Warsaw, Ind.; two daughters: Teresa (Ron) Conley and Susan (Michael) Stevens, both of Pierceton; one sister: Dorothy Ritzenthaler, Bourbon, Ind.; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Nov. 27, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton. A funeral service will begin at noon Tuesday in the funeral home with Pastor Noel Reed officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton, with Military Honors by the American Legion Post 258, Pierceton.
