Commissioners Approve Milford Road Closures
In another matter of business related to the development of a Tax Increment Finance district for Milford, road closures were approved this morning by the Kosciusko County Commissioners.
The closures include a section of Old SR 15 from East North Street in Milford to CR 1400 North, and a section of 1350 North from Old 15 to CR 100 East.
Two residents voiced concern over traffic flow and how it would affect access for emergency vehicles. The board cited traffic surveys were conducted and found minimal impact in travel time around the area. A memo from the Milford fire chief also approved the road closure, citing access to the area by emergency crews will not be impeded.
In another matter, commissioners approved a request of $3,000 for an equipment purchase by Kosciusko County Emergency Management Director Ed Rock. The equipment will be used by the nuclear sampling team to survey food and water in the area. Kosciusko County lies on the edge of the 50-mile radius of Cook Nuclear Power Plant’s ingestion pathway zone.
Along with Kosciusko County Veterans Affairs Officer Rich Maron, the commissioners presented the November Veterans Award to Larry “Butch” Stout. The award recognizes Stout for his service in the U.S. Navy’s Mike Boat Division in Da Nang during the Vietnam War.
The commissioners next regular meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4.
Commissioners are Ron Truex, Bob Conley and Brad Jackson.
