Festival Of Trees Is Underway
This year’s Festival of Trees is underway and it features 20 trees that have been expertly decorated for the holiday season as a means to raise awareness and funding for The Beaman Home and Habitat for Humanity.
The community Festival of Trees is expected to attract more than 1,000 visitors to the downtown area through Dec. 9. Most of the trees will be available for purchase through a silent auction, and all trees are part of the People’s Choice competition. Visitors may vote in person at each of the Festival of Tree locations.
The majority of the trees are available for silent auction, and all trees are available for a People’s Choice vote at $1 per vote.
Festival of Trees is being held in conjunction with the Dec. 7 First Friday event in downtown Warsaw. Other events happening during the Festival of Trees are collections for Toys for Tots, The Salvation Army and Combined Community Services. Collections of gifts, toys, canned and dry goods may be left in collection boxes at KeyBank, Mad Anthony’s, Courthouse Coffee and Reinholt’s Town Square Furniture.
The Toys for Tots big collection day is set for Saturday, Dec. 1, from 8 a.m. to noon at the new Warsaw City Hall building at the corner of Center and Buffalo streets in downtown Warsaw.
On Friday, Dec. 7, the annual Light Up the Night event in Central Park will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be attending along with their live reindeer, and their will be caroling and carriage rides.
On Saturday, Dec. 8, a Twinkle Light Parade will be held at 6 p.m. in downtown Warsaw. The parade is open to anyone who wants to take part. Applications can be obtained online at the Warsaw Community Development Corporation’s website.
