Evelyn J. Tinkey
Evelyn Jane Tinkey, 81, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 7:59 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at Elkhart General Hospital, Elkhart, Ind.
Evelyn was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Ind., where she was a homemaker, and a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Atwood, Ind. She was the pianist and organist for the church for many years. She was also active in the United Methodist Women, the Kosciusko County Fair, and a number of other community organizations.
She was born on May 16, 1931, in Atwood to the late Russell F. Creighton and Gaynell (Horn) Creighton. In 1948 she was married to Richard Barker, who passed away in 1967. On Sept. 5, 1969, she was married to William “Bill” Junior Tinkey, who survives in Warsaw.
She will be lovingly remembered by her four sons: DeWayne (Melody) Barker, Warsaw; Terry (Carolyn) Barker, Fishers, Ind.; Lee (Pamela) Barker, Elkhart; Karl (Cindy) Barker, Leeburg, Ind.; two daughters: Debra (James) Caton, Osceola, Ind.; Diana (Mark) Osborn, Elkhart; 17 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Gale (Lois) Creighton, Oviedo, Fla; Bob Creighton, Nashville, Ind.; Dave (Mary Ann) Creighton, Warsaw; and her sister: Marilyn Fahl, Columbia City, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her first husband: Richard Barker; a son: Neil Barker; and her sister: Dorothy E. Snyder Darsey.
Her visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Rd., Warsaw. Her funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at the funeral home and officiated by Pastor Jerry Thomas. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
