Lancer Harriers 20th At NCCAA Nationals
CEDARVILLE, OHIO – The Grace College men’s and women’s cross country teams finished in 20th place in their respective races in the NCCAA National Championships.
The event was held at Cedarville University on Saturday with the largest field in history.
Grace’s women competed in a field of 35 complete teams and were paced by Jenna McClellan in 20:20 and Tara Hamstra in 20:22.
The men raced against 39 full teams and were led by Jonathan Rex with a 65th-place showing of 27:26 and a time of 27:29 from Ben Drew.
“We didn’t run our best today, but I still feel we ended the season on a good note. This was the largest field ever at this meet and probably the most talented,” said Grace head coach Jeff Raymond. “I’m looking forward to next year as our young teams continue to improve.”
For the Lady Lancers, Creigh Ogle (20:48), Alexis Nelson (21:08) and Marina Ramirez (22:08) rounded out Grace’s top five finishers. Megan Fast and Rachel Fehring also competed for Grace.
On the men’s side, Collin Chupp (28:31), Tim Trapp (28:35) and Donovan Graham (30:45) completed Grace five fastest runners as Richie Cornett and Jamin Parker raced as well.
“I want to commend Jonathan Rex for running very well and leading our men’s team. He just missed his PR and this was a much tougher course,” Raymond continued. “For the women, Creigh Ogle ran her best time of the season to finish third on our team.”
