Stuff A Stocking For American Troops
Treasures for Troops and the First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County will be conducting the third annual “Stockings for Soldiers” drive beginning Nov. 19. This is an opportunity for the people throughout the community to send some holiday cheer to a deployed soldier for the upcoming Christmas season.
Last year, with the help of many, 302 stockings were place in the hands of soldiers overseas. This year the collection goal is 400-plus, but your help is greatly needed to reach that goal.
If you would like to participate and fill a Christmas stocking for a solider from you and your family, Treasures for Troops asks that you pick up instructions at the following area businesses beginning Nov. 19: Vein Institute and Medical Spa, The Warsaw Community Public Library, Outdoor Living Center, Dr. William Myers office, Manns Kountry Kitchen (Silver Lake), and the Silver Lake Post Office. Or, you can visit the Treasures for Troops facebook page.
It is asked that everyone who participates follow the specific instructions that are provided when filling a stocking. Shipping costs are very expensive and with the anticipated volume hoping to be collected, it is important that donated stocking are filled only with items on the instruction list.
If you have any questions you may call 260-352-2678 or email [email protected]. You can also leave a message on the Treasures for Troops facebook page. We have a soldier for every stocking donated, so the sky is the limit. You may donate as many stockings as you’d like from you and your family, just make sure each stocking donated is filled according to the instructions
All stockings must be received by Friday, Nov. 30. Early turn-ins are greatly appreciated. Filled stockings can be dropped off at any of the area businesses listed above.
