Altrusa District Governor-Elect Visits Warsaw
Altrusa International District Six Governor-Elect Linda Barb was a guest at the Warsaw club business meeting on Nov. 1.
Linda will become the district governor in April 2013 and brought greetings from District Six of Altrusa International. District Six includes all Altrusa clubs in Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky.
She complimented the Warsaw club on their marketing materials and strategic plan for growing their membership and gaining public awareness of Altrusa. She invited all of the members to attend the next International Convention for Altrusa in New Zealand, July 26-29, 2013. She also shared many resources available to local clubs through District Six and International.
In appreciation for her visit, local club president Sue Creighton presented Linda with a gift from Warsaw Cut Glass, etched with the Altrusa logo.
In addition to Linda’s presentation, committee reports were given. Jolene Howard reported for the finance committee. The bingo event to benefit The Beaman Home generated net proceeds of approximately $4,800.
Gold Canyon candle orders are being collected and the Nelson’s Golden Glow Chicken BBQ date was set for May 18, 2013. The club will also be selling coupon booklets at Carson’s for the Community Days event.
The service committee is busy planning to feed the children at Baker Youth Club on Nov. 21 and will be volunteering at the CASA Holiday Festival on Nov. 9. Members continue to volunteer for childcare at The Beaman Home and delivering mobile meals.
Individuals interested serving our community are encouraged to contact Altrusa President Sue Creighton at 574-265-5451. The next meeting will be Thursday, Nov. 15, at Hacienda at 5:30 p.m. and visitors are welcome.
