Grace’s Barnhill Receives NCCAA Honor
WINONA LAKE – Junior goalkeeper Carmen Barnhill was named the NCCAA’s Student-Athlete of the Week for her performance for the Grace’ College women’s soccer team.
Barnhill became only the second defensive player to nab the award this season. She is also Grace’s second winner of the NCCAA national award this year, joining Mallory Rondeau’s honor on Oct. 8.
During the week, Barnhill helped Grace record its third shutout in four games during Grace’s 1-0 win over Saint Francis in the league tournament semifinals.
Barnhill recorded four saves in 90 minutes to give the Lady Lancers their 10th shutout of the season.
With their 15th win of the year on Saturday, Grace’s women’s soccer team also set the program’s record for victories in a single season.
The Lady Lancers will play for the league title and a trip to the NAIA National Championships on Saturday when they play at NAIA No. 7 Spring Arbor for the league championship at 2 p.m.
