Robert S. Goff
Robert S. Goff, 91, of Chapman Lake, Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 10:10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, in Englewood Hospice House, Port Charlotte, Fla.
He was born Sept. 25, 1921, in Colfax, Ind., to Bert and Gayle (Stowman) Goff. He was a 1941 graduate of Huntington High School and also attended two years of college.
He entered the United States Army on July 14, 1942, through Indianapolis, Ind., and served during World War II. Tec5 Robert Stowman Goff was honorably discharged Nov. 27, 1945, from Camp Atterbury, Ind. On Nov. 3, 1950, he was recalled and served in Germany during the Korean War.
He married Margaret E. Outcelt on Aug. 19, 1950, in Huntington, Ind. He resided at Chapman Lake from 1962-2010, and most recently in Nokomis, Fla.
Robert was employed by Zimmer Inc. and Smith Tire. He owned and operated Goff’s Chapman Lake Marina. He retired in 1986.
He was a member of Kings Gate Club, Kings Gate Bowling League, Kings Gate Tennis League and the Elks Lodge, all of Nokomis, Fla.; and the American Legion Post #159 of Venice, Fla.
Robert is survived by his wife: Margaret E. Goff, Nokomis, Fla.; a son: Kent C. Goff, Warsaw, Ind.; two daughters: Millicent (Gregory “Skip”) Brant, North Port, Fla.; and Monica (Dan) Fritzinger, Warsaw, Ind.; two grandchildren: Dr. Ashley Brant-Ferszt (Michael Ferszt), Longmeadow, Mass.; and Trevor Brant, North Port, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Bert and Gayle Goff; and two sisters: Betty Snyder and Louise Rickert.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Military honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.
