Doyle Rolls Into Record Books
John Doyle’s name may not be up in lights, but it’s darn close.
The marquee outside The Bowling Alley on SR 15 in Warsaw says it all for the record-setting Doyle.
“Congrats John Doyle. 879 Series.”
Doyle deserves the plaudits after he lit up the lanes inside The Bowling Alley like no one else in Warsaw bowling history Wednesday night.
The 57-year old, despite an injury to the thumb on his bowling hand, rolled a new city record series of 879. His performance eclipses the old city standard of 856 set by Jeff Sims.
Doyle put together back-to-back perfect games (300) and then added a 279 for his history-making effort. He had 25 strikes in a row to start his series.
Doyle was competing in the Sportsman League Wednesday night and bowling for a team sponsored by Farmers Insurance.
