Flying Jets Top Triton
MONROE – The Flying Jets of Adams Central used a huge start to soar right past Triton in a sectional football playoff opener Friday night.
The hosts tallied 31 points in the opening quarter en route to a 38-14 win over the Trojans in a Class 1-A Sectional 35 contest.
Adams Central, which won 38-18 at Triton in the first round in 2011, advances to a sectional semifinal game next Friday night.
Kyle Baker rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns to lead the hosts, who improve to 6-4 on the season. The Flying Jets rushed for 224 yards in the win.
Triton hurt its own cause with five turnovers, four of those coming on interceptions.
Bryson Mosier threw touchdown passes to Grant Stichter and Seth Flenar for Triton’s pair of scores. Mosier also led the Triton ground game with 50 yards on 10 carrie.
Triton finishes its season 1-9.
