Paul A. Rush
Paul A. Rush, 86, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away at 12:04 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Grace Village Nursing and Rehab in Winona Lake, Ind.
He was born on Jan. 10, 1926, in Mentone, Ind., to William R. and Bernice (Goshert) Rush.
He lived most of his life in the Kosciusko County area, graduated in 1944 from Mentone High School, 1949 from Manchester College and received his Master’s degree from St. Frances College in Fort Wayne, Ind. On April 17, 1949, in North Manchester, Ind., he married Norma F. Fowler who preceded him on June 10, 2010. He retired in 1986 from Wawasee Community School Corporation as a math teacher at North Webster Junior High School and had formally taught at Milford and Mentone schools.
He was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Syracuse, Lions Club International in Syracuse, and Retired Teachers Association.
He is survived by two daughters: Evelyn Ann (Patrick) Harding, West Lafayette, Ind.; and Barbara Rush, Indianapolis, Ind.; a son: William (Deborah) Rush, Fort Wayne; four grandsons; a great-granddaughter; three sisters: Ruth Ridgway, Winona Lake; Mary Derry, Warsaw; and Virginia Hight, Etna Green; and two brothers: Carl Rush, Beaumont, Texas; and Donald (June) Rush, Corunna, Ind.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Mentone Cemetery. A Celebration of Life service will follow on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 1413 N. Long Dr., Syracuse, IN with Rev. Mark Eastway of the church officiating.
