Grace Tennis Trio Honored
WINONA LAKE – To cap off a strong 2012 campaign, three members of Grace’s men’s tennis team were named to the All-League Team of the Crossroads League.
Seniors Michael Blevins and Nikola Todorovic and sophomore Daniel Sanchez headlined an outstanding season that saw the Lancers win a share of the CL regular season title.
Sanchez was Grace’s top singles player in 2012 and won his second straight All-League award. He finished 7-4 during his first full season playing at No. 1 singles, and he posted an 8-3 record at No. 2 doubles with Aaron Blevins.
Michael Blevins was equally strong in singles and doubles competition. He went 8-3 while playing No. 2 singles to go along with an 8-3 record at No.1 doubles with Todorovic.
Todorovic also added four singles victories to his doubles tally to win 12 matches on the season.
Blevins and Todorovic, under head coach Larry Schuh, were instrumental in Grace’s tennis revival over the past four years. During their freshman season, the duo helped the Lancers win their first league match in four years. They went on to make back-to-back appearances in the league tournament championship match in 2011 and 2012 and also won a share of the 2012 regular-season championship of the Crossroads League for the first time in 23 years.
