Experience a night that is out of this world! Be there to witness the reenactment of astronaut Neil Armstrong taking a small step for man, and a giant leap for mankind.
Meet “Captain Kirk” and “Spock” from Star Trek. The library closes at 4 p.m. to prepare and will open at 6 p.m. sharp to welcome visitors.
Please line up at the Main Street entrance. The tour is for all ages and is free. Every child in costume will receive a candy bar treat at the end of the tour. The tour will be about 15 minutes.
The library welcomes donations of full size candy bars so they can be sure to have plenty of treats for all the kids. Bring your donation to the adult circulation desk anytime this month.
Lapsit Story Time
Fall Lapsit Story Time is at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays, through the month of October. Each session is 20 minutes.
Miss Tina will read stories and share fingerplays and rhymes about “BIG and small.” Register at the children’s desk or call 658-4312.
Preschool Story Time
It’s Preschool Story Time! Join the MPL on Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m. or 1:30 p.m., or at 7 p.m. on Thursday evenings for “Pumpkins.” Miss Julie will read Duck & Goose Find a Pumpkin by Tad Hills and other stories about big, orange pumpkins!
Make a cute magnetic pumpkin patch photo frame to take home and enjoy delicious pumpkin snacks. All children ages 3-6 are invited. Register by calling 574-658-4312.
Teen Read Week
“It Came From the Library!” is this year’s theme for Teen READ Week, Oct. 14-20. We dare you to read for the fun of it!
Teen Read Week is a time to celebrate reading for fun and encourage teens to take advantage of reading in all its forms – books and magazines, e-books, audiobooks and more – and become regular library users.
Join the MPL at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, for the Teen Monster Bash. Get a monster makeover and hear about some of the newest additions to the teen collection. Enjoy frighteningly good refreshments with fellow reading “monsters.”
Afternoon Knitting Club
Everyone loves a handmade gift! Share your talent and precious works with those you love through knitted gifts and whimsies. With so many creative ideas and projects, you don’t need to look any further.
The Afternoon Knitting Club meets from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. every other Friday at the library. The next club meeting will be Oct. 19.
