Louis L. Snyder
Louis L. Snyder, 79, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 11:53 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born Feb. 22, 1933, in Warsaw to James E. and Mary (Finton) Snyder. He entered the United States Army on April 8, 1953, in Indianapolis and served during the Korean War. CPL Louis Lowell Snyder was honorably discharged on April 7, 1955, from Fort Carson, Colo.
On Sept. 19, 1952, he married Gwenlyn Gawthrop in Warsaw.
He spent his entire life in Warsaw and was a self-employed building contractor. He was a collector of hit and miss engines and anything John Deere. He was a woodworker and built cabinets and large doll houses for Nicole and Jessica and was into antique restoration.
Louis is survived by his wife: Gwenlyn Snyder, Warsaw; a daughter: Linda (Jeff) Sweatland, Anderson, Ind.; two sons: Kevin Snyder, Warsaw; Randall (Lora) Snyder, Terre Haute, Ind.; four grandchildren: Joshua (Kristen) Sweatland, Oviedo, Fla.; Cpt. Jacob (Hillary) Sweatland, Fayetteville, N.C.; Jessica Snyder, Terre Haute, Ind.; Nicole Snyder, Terre Haute; three great-grandchildren: Jackson, Kennedee, Madelyn; three sisters: Rosetta Kunce, Cromwell, Ind.; Joyce Latta, Warsaw; Phyllis (Loren) Munson, Claypool, Ind.; and Molly, his golden retriever.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Phillip Snyder and Leonard Snyder.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Services will follow at noon Wednesday at the funeral home. Rev. David Hummel, Trinity United Methodist Church, Warsaw, will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
