Turnovers Trouble Triton
BOURBON – Too many turnovers proved costly to the Triton football team Friday night.
The host Trojans had six turnovers in losing a 28-7 final to Knox in a Northern State Conference contest.
Jordan Beem made the most of his five carries for the Redskins, scoring on touchdown runs of three, 10 and 17 yards for Knox. The Redskins, who avenged a 21-13 loss to Triton from 2011, improve to 2-6 overall and 2-4 in the NSC.
Knox racked up 250 yards rushing in the victory as Eric Dan led the way with 24 carries for 153 yards and one score.
DJ Riffle picked up the lone touchdown for the Trojans, who fall to 1-7 on the season. Riffle returned a fumble recovery 39 yards for a score in the third quarter for the hosts.
Quarterback Bryson Mosier rushed for 91 yards on 15 attempts for the Trojans.
Triton completed just three passes in the loss and had four pass attempts intercepted by the visiting Redskins.
Cole Creighbaum had an interception for the Trojans.
Triton (1-7, 1-5) plays at undefeated Jimtown and Knox (2-6, 2-4) hosts New Prairie in NSC and regular-season finales next Friday night.
