Marian Star Jackson Picks Irish
It looks like fans of Mishawaka Marian basketball star Demetrius Jackson will not have to drive far to see him play the next four years.
Jackson, according to a report today from ESPN, has decided to play at the University of Notre Dame. Jackson, an explosive guard, was scheduled to make his choice official between the Irish and Illinois today shortly after 5 p.m. on the show “Recruiting Nation” on ESPNU.
Jackson, a high-flyer despite being just 6-1, also received interest from schools such as Butler, Michigan State, Xavier and Kansas during the recruiting process. Irish coach Mike Brey has been recruiting the Marian star since his freshman year.
Jackson, a strong candidate for Mr. Basketball honors this coming season, averaged 22.3 points-per-game his junior season for the Knights. He is considered a top 25 prospect by several national sites that rank high school players.
Jackson is scheduled to hold a press conference later tonight.
