Warsaw Sports Wrap – Sept. 25
The Warsaw volleyball team tuned up for its league showdown with NorthWood by beating Fort Wayne Snider 3-1 Tuesday night.
The host Tigers posted a 25-8, 24-26, 25-13, 25-21 victory in the non-conference contest.
Senior star Jamie Lacheta led coach Mike Howard’s team to its 19th win of the season. Lacheta had team-high totals of 15 kills and eight aces for the Tigers.
Emily Poe continued her strong play as the junior slammed 10 kills to go with 10 digs and three aces. Katie Voelz had 10 kills and two blocks for the winners.
Delaney Goble had 13 digs and three aces and Sam Jensen had three aces and one block for WCHS. Alex Sanchez led the defense with 20 digs and senior setter Chloe Hubner had 37 assists.
The Warsaw junior varsity team improved to 17-0 on the season by topping Snider 25-19, 25-17.
Warsaw, 19-4 overall and 5-0 in the Northern Lakes Conference, hosts NorthWood Thursday in a battle of league unbeatens. The Panthers are 21-3 overall and also 5-0 in NLC play. The JV match begins at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Warsaw then concludes its NLC season versus Concord at home on Oct. 4.
