Firemen Competing In Chili Cook Off
The Kosciusko County Farmers Market will be presenting the 1st Annual Firemen Chili Cook Off on Saturday, Oct. 13, in downtown Warsaw.
The cook-off is between all fire departments in Kosciusko County and is being held to benefit a selected charity, which has not yet been announced.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Kosciusko County Farmers Market on Center Street. The farmers market is held each Saturday, May through the end of October. On Oct. 13, the market will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety Friday granted approval for a street closure to accommodate the market and the Firemen Chili Cook Off if the additional space is needed. The events will largely take place in the parking lot of the new city hall building on Center Street across from the courthouse. Center Street, from Buffalo to Lake streets will be closed for the event if necessary.
Other street closings approved by the B.O.W. Friday are:
- Oct. 5-6: Center Street from Lake to Washington streets will be closed for First Friday and the Downtown’s annual beer tent.
- Oct. 26 – Center Street from Lake to Indiana streets and Buffalo Street from Market to Main streets will be closed for the downtown Spooktacular annual event from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Nov. 2 – Center Street from Lake to Indiana streets and Buffalo Street from Market to Main streets will be closed for First Friday events from 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Dec. 7 – Center Street from Lake to Indiana streets and Buffalo Street from Market to Main streets will be closed for First Friday events from 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
It was also noted that the annual Toys for Tots drive will be held Dec. 8 in the parking lot of the new city hall. No road closure will take place, but traffic could be heavier in the area during the toy drive.
