Hockey Tournament to Boost Area Economy

The Lutheran Health SportsCenter will host the Fort Wayne Pre-Season Blast on Sept. 22 and Sept. 23. The event is presented by Canlan Classic Tournaments.

This is the second year of the growing youth hockey tournament, which will host teams from across the United States , as well as a top-tier youth squad from London, Ontario, CAN.

Over two days, the teams will compete in a round-robin tournament format, before qualifying for the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship match. All three sheets of ice will be used at the Lutheran Health SportsCenter.

Four teams from the Fort Wayne area will be competing in the tournament, an admission is free for spectators.

The tournament will bring in 17 teams and 700 players, and an estimated $150,000 to $225,000 in economic impact to the Fort Wayne community.
