Roscoe Wood
Roscoe Wood, 82, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, in his residence.
On March 21, 1930, Roscoe was born to John and Calonie (Spradley) Wood in Collins, Mississippi. He moved to South Bend, Ind., in 1950 and to the Warsaw area a few years later. On March 20, 1971, he married Sue Hetler in North Manchester, Ind., she survives.
Roscoe was a member of the Moose Lodge of Warsaw, worked as a machinist for Clausing Incorporated of Warsaw from 1953 to 1983. After his years 30 years at Clausing’s, he then worked at DePuy from 1983 till retiring in 1996. Roscoe enjoyed hunting and fishing for many years.
Roscoe is survived by his wife: Sue Wood; his two daughters: Margaret Ann Wood Slone, Warsaw; and Dorothy Wood, Fort Wayne, Ind.; his two sons: DeWayne Wood, North Manchester, Ind.; and Jason Wood, Warsaw; his sisters: Lucy Freeman, Stringer, Miss.; and Bell Marie (Billy Ray) Williams, Stringer, Miss.; and his brothers: Johnny (Merle) Wood, Stringer, Miss.; and Talmadge (Margaret) Wood, Stringer, Miss.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Roscoe was preceded in death by his mother and father; his daughter: Cecile Wood; and a son-in-law: Evert Slone; four brothers: Oliver J Wood, J.W. Wood, J.C. Wood, William Wood; and one nephew: Ernie Williams.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with Chaplain Bob Jarboe officiating the service. Burial will be at a later date.
