Communications Tower Approved For Syracuse
A communications tower for a medical practice was approved at the regular meeting of the Syracuse Board of Zoning Appeals tonight.
The petitioner is Maple Net Wireless, which was seeking an exception to allow a communications tower in a commercial district for the primary use of a medical facility located in Syracuse.
The tower will allow IU Health Goshen Physicians Syracuse Family Medicine to communicate with IU Health Goshen Hospital.
The property is located at 1033 N. Indiana Ave., Syracuse.
The tower will allow the medical center to transfer data, such as medical records, to and from the hospital.
Also, Maple Net Wireless’ petition for a variance was granted. The variance will allow the 80-foot tall communication tower to be located closer than six miles to other existing communication towers and to be located 48 feet from an adjacent property line, where the ordinance would require 80 feet.
Jonathan and Jennifer Jesse’s petition for a variance was also approved. The couple’s petition is to allow a residential addition (elevate structure and increase the garage setback) at 20 feet from the road right-of-way, 4.7 feet from the north property line, and 17.6 feet from the water’s edge. The property is located at 1412 S. Harkless Dr., Syracuse.
The board welcomed new member Jim Allegret.
The next meeting is at 6 p.m. Oct. 18, at Syracuse Town Hall.
