NW Bait Shop To Be Revamped
Mark Dillon was granted an exception for several changes he requested for his business by the Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals during its regular monthly meeting Tuesday in Warsaw.
Dillon’s business, primarily a bait shop, is located at the intersection of SR 13 and CR 350N, south of North Webster in Tippecanoe Township.
Dillon petitioned the BZA for enlargement of a porch, a 60 by 80 foot addition to the rear of the building, allowing boat rentals and a drive through, redoing an existing sign, adding an additional commercial sign and outside sales. Since the property is still zoned residential, it is considered a non-conforming property though a business has operated there for several years.
Also on the agenda, Sam Stimmel’s petition for a variance to permit a residence to be converted into a duplex and a barn to be converted into a single family residence was denied. The property is located on Blackpoint Road at the intersection with Pine Drive in Turkey Creek Township.
Dan Richard, area planning director, noted there were several remonstrators against Stimmel’s petition who felt the property needs to be cleaned first.
In other agenda items:
- Jerry Breeck was granted a variance to allow an existing residence to be elevated and taken out of a flood zone on EMS B42B Lane, south of CR 450N in Tippecanoe Township.
- Larry and Kathryn Brey were granted approval for a variance to permit construction of a garage and breezeway 9 feet from the right of way on EMS B8 Lane, west of SR 13 in Tippecanoe Township.
- Joan Szynal was granted a variance to permit construction of a garage addition 5 feet from the right of way on Ogden Point Road, north of Rosella Street in Turkey Creek Township.
During the hearing officer portion of the agenda, Louis Dreyfus, a soybean processing plant on SR 15 in Claypool, was granted an exception to build a 60 by 70 foot addition to an existing warehouse building on its property.
Clunette Elevator was also granted an exception for expansion of its grain facilities. Six new silos will be built, along with an addition to an existing storage building.
