Warsaw Sports Wrap – Sept. 6
Golf Team Wins On Senior Night
Alexis Manwaring and Nikki LaLonde led the way as the Warsaw girls golf team closed our regular-season play with a victory Thursday.
The Tigers celebrated Senior Night in style with a 176-208 win over Manchester at the Stonehenge Golf Club in Winona Lake.
Sophomore Manwaring led the winners with a 41 and junior LaLonde fired a 42 for the Tigers.
Senior Elizabeth Meadows carded a 45, while classmates Morgan Sands and Ashley Murrell shot 48 and 56 respectively for the winners.
Senior Lindsey Budnik captured medalist honors with a four-over, nine-hole total of 39 for Manchester. The Squires drop to 9-5 on the season.
Warsaw finishes regular-season action at 11-1 overall and 6-1 in Northern Lakes Conference play.
The Tigers will compete in the NLC Tournament Saturday starting at 10 a.m. at the Bent Oak Golf Club in Elkhart. Warsaw will then host sectional play Sept. 15 at Stonehenge.
No Match For Tennis Team
The Warsaw boys tennis team got to make a long bus ride for nothing on Thursday.
The Tigers were scheduled to play at No. 3 Fort Wayne Canterbury, but the hosts had the wrong date for the match thinking it was slated for next Thursday.
Warsaw (6-2 overall and 4-0 in the NLC), will host its own Invitational Saturday. The event, which is scheduled to include Canterbury and No. 4 Park Tudor from Indianapolis, begins at 9 a.m. The tourney also includes Merrillville, South Bend Adams, South Bend Clay and Huntington North.
