Wildstock 2012: A Concert For The Animals
It’s a day of fun for the entire family, and it’s a day to raise awareness and funding for an animal rehabilitation facility right here in Kosciusko County.
On Saturday, Sept. 15, Mudlove Pottery of Winona Lake will present Wildstock 2012, A Concert for the Animals of Seven’s Heaven Wildlife Rehabilitation Inc. The event happens from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. just one mile south of North Webster on SR 13.
Seven’s Heaven is located south of Pierceton and is a non-profit licensed animal rehabilitation facility. Owner/operator Launda Ewell takes in all kinds of wildlife that has been injured or abandoned by their mothers, nurses them back to health, then releases them back into the wild. She operates strictly on donations and some grants, but each month is a financial struggle to help the animals.
Wildstock 2012 is a play on the 1969 celebration that brought more than half a million people out to celebrate peace, openness and cultural expression through music. Wildstock 2012 is set to also feature a number of concerts throughout the day. Featured performances will be by Bryce Lippe, Rachael Fruit, Almost Gone, The 204 Band, Steve W. Michaels, Megan and Adam Arndell and Ivory West. The headline act is acoustic guitar player Michael Kelsey who takes the stage at 8 p.m.
Throughout the day, barbecue, hot dogs, hamburgers, soda, ice cream, bake sale items and a beer tent will also be available. Activities throughout the day include a petting zoo, exotic birds, face painting, nail art, a bicycle raffle, door prize drawings and a silent auction. Area animal rescue groups will also be on-site looking for foster and permanent homes for the many animals in their care.
Coolers are welcome at the event, but no grills, no glass, no pets and no open fires will be permitted on site. Admission is $25 for adults, and free for those ages 17 years old and under.
