Billy Royce Ashby Sr., 60, of 746 Monroe St., Elkhart, Ind., and formerly of Nappanee, Ind., died at 6:30 a.m., Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at his residence of natural causes. He had been in ill health since 2006.
He was born July 12, 1952, in Earl, Ark., to Richard Frank and Annie Mae Linville Ashby.
Billy retired from Smokercraft in 2006. He enjoyed singing Karaoke and playing pool at B.J. Stars in Elkhart. He loved doing latch hook, playing horse shoes and guitar with his best friend, Warren “Buzz” Cross. He also liked playing dominos with his mother. He was a loving and caring father.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother: James Franklin Ashby.
Family and friends may call from noon to 3 p.m. Friday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral Services will follow at 3 p.m. Officiating will be his son-in-law, Rev. Marvin Kleitz Jr. Burial will be in Milford Cemetery.
