Grace Volleyball Players Honored
Two members of the Grace College volleyball team, sophomore setter Christina LeBlanc and senior libero Bethany Whitcraft, were honored as Players of the Week by the Crossroads League on Monday.
LeBlanc earned the CL’s Setter of the Week award. She has gotten the Lady Lancers (5-3) off to a strong start in her first full year as the starting setter. The LeBlanc-led attack helped Grace to a 3-1 record over the weekend, including wins over No. 20 Lindsey Wilson and (RV) Park, Mo.
She set a career-high with 52 assists in a four-set victory over Park, who was 7-2 entering their match with Grace. For the week, LeBlanc tallied 170 assists (most in Crossroads League) to go along with 42 digs.
Whitcraft was named the Libero of the Week after tallying double-digit digs in all four of Grace’s matches.
She amassed 34 digs against Bethel (Tenn.) in a five-set victory for Grace. For the week, she tallied 81 digs in 17 sets (4.8 digs/game). She also added 13 assists and served 69 times on a .986 percentage.
The Lady Lancers, who are receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 poll, have their home opener on Thursday against Huntington University at 7 p.m.
