UPDATE: Fire At Popular Downtown Eatery
Warsaw and Winona Lake fire departments were called to a fire at a popular downtown restaurant early Sunday morning.
The initial call for heavy smoke in B-Mac’s restaurant, 114 N. Buffalo St., went out at approximately 1:30 a.m. Fire fighters arriving on scene located heavy smoke coming from the basement of the building. According to Warsaw Fire Chief Mike Brubaker, when fire fighters entered the building they found flames in the basement and were able to extinguish the blaze quickly.
Squad 70, the county’s fire investigation team, has preliminarily ruled the cause to be electrical.
Brubaker said estimated damages to the building itself are $25,000. Damage to contents is estimated at $20,000. He also said a representative of the Kosciusko County Health Department was called to B-Mac’s the morning of the fire and the restaurant is closed until further notice.
