Plymouth Woman Sentenced In Federal Court
Shayla Montague, 20, of Plymouth, Ind., a defendant in the case U.S. v Beard et al., was sentenced by District Judge Jon DeGuilio to 30 months imprisonment and 4 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to the felony offense of conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine.
The case was the result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Indiana State Police and the Plymouth Police Department that actually began in late 2010.
On July 25, 2011, Indiana State Police, South Bend Police and Metro Special Operations raided a South Bend home at the request of the Chicago office of the DEA. Arrested was the resident of the home, Joe Mayer, but police at that time said Mayer was not the target of the raid. The targets of the investigation were Montague and Jason Buzzard, and also Nicole Garcia. Garcia was taken into custody in Plymouth.
Montague’s case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Frank Schaffer.
